So we decided it was time to take our first official family vacation. There were a lot of factors in deciding on this trip... my mom had a conference there, my sister lives there, we have never been to California, etc. ect... Jon was able to get the week off work so it was a go! Becki was a trooper and went with us. My parents, sister, and nephews met up with us on Monday.
This was Kamryn's first time on an airplane and Reagan's 3rd (but she was 4 months when she flew so I don't think it really counts.) I was nervous about taking both girls on an airplane because of past ear problems so I took them both to the doctor on Friday to make sure they were good- they BOTH had an ear infection. We got them on medicine right away. This didn't help my nerves at all! Oh well, it was about time to go and we were looking forward to this trip!
Sunday September 4-- LONGEST DAY EVER!! Our flight left Des Moines at 11:45am. We did good. Becki and I sat together and Jon and Reagan were right across from us. It was a small plane and a short flight. Kamryn was entertained with tags for luggage. Flight #1 was a success!! Once we got to Minneapolis we had a little over an hour. We got some lunch and let Kamryn run. Our next flight was about 4hours long- this was the one I was dreading. We were lucky enough to be in the back row and Becki was right across from us with an empty seat beside her. Kamryn slept about an hour and then it was entertaining time. Luckily she did good and the flight attendants loved her. One of them even took her for a little bit. Reagan did great watching a movie, coloring, and looking at I Spy books. After 4 hours we landed in Orange County. We took a shuttle from the airport to our hotel. The girls at this point were very tired as it was 7pm Iowa time but only 5pm California time. The bus ride was about 45minutes. We checked into the hotel, got pizza for the girls, I gave them a quick bath, unpacked suitcases and were just getting settled in when they called and gave us the wrong room!!! So we threw everything back in suitcases and moved... we were pooped! The girls had fun just running around the room then it was bed time, but not before a little more packing- this time Kamryn packed herself!!
